What Makes North Texas Feel Like Home

I get asked a lot of practical questions in this job. Price per square foot. School ratings. Commute times. What I don't get asked as often, and probably should be, is what actually makes a place feel like home once you're living in it.

For a lot of people I've worked with, it isn't the house. It's the Tuesday morning coffee shop where the owner knows your order. It's a neighbor who waves every single day, without fail. It's finding out the new grocery store carries the one ingredient you couldn't get anywhere else.

North Texas does this in a way that surprises people who move here from somewhere else. The pace is fast. The growth is real. But there's still a version of small-town familiarity tucked inside almost every suburb here, if you know to look for it.

I think that's the part that doesn't show up on a listing sheet. Square footage tells you what a house is. It doesn't tell you what a neighborhood is like on a Sunday afternoon, or whether the people two doors down will actually introduce themselves.

That's usually the conversation I try to have with buyers before we ever tour a home. Not because it replaces the practical stuff. Because it's the part that actually determines whether you'll be happy there five years from now.
